I Need Your Help

Hi Nikon friends, my name is Mike Symons.
I found this unique outfit on e-bay a couple of months ago.
It originated from San Capistrano, California, USA.
I was told that it came from an Ophthalmologist's lab or office.
The Nikon F-2, serial #8050696, is fairly late and came equipped with an MD-2 Motor-Drive, serial #457328.
Unfortunately it didn't come with the MB-1 or 2 battery pack.
I'm led to believe that it was probably attached to a unit that contained its own power source, and thus didn't require the Nikon MB-1 or MB-2 battery pack.
The finder is an F-2 "Special Finder", Model II, and it has been suggested that these special finders were perhaps not made by Nikon although they have a few Nikon parts ...... such as the nameplate and mounting collar.
There is an eyepiece diopter adjustment.
The focusing screen is clear (refer to JPEG image) and has a vertical and horizontal cross grids.
It appears to be a type "M" .... although a bit different in appearance.
The screen itself is mounted in a "K" frame but this is incorrectly marked.
